Rick Eling appointed managing director of MKC Invest

We are delighted to announce that Rick Eling has joined MKC as managing director of our investment management business, MKC Invest.

Rick is hugely experienced in portfolio management and how well-designed portfolios can support long-term financial planning. He brings a passion for helping people achieve their financial objectives that mirrors that of the entire MKC team, together with a fresh and innovative approach to advice-led investment management.

Talking about his plans, Rick says, “Trevor Hubner has been managing the MKC Investment Management portfolios since they were set up with some considerable success. I intend to build on these solid foundations by expanding the current range so that we are better able to meet the varied objectives of our growing number of clients.

“While the expanded range will maintain many of the characteristics of the existing portfolios, they will be structured in a more client-centric, relevant way. We will be radically honest about what really adds value for investors and what doesn’t. My intention is to build a range of portfolios that will take care of clients for decades, free from the institutional paralysis and entrenched habits that plague larger and older investment management companies.

“There will be no change to the way the current portfolios are managed and reported and the new ranges will retain Trevor’s safe, steady approach to fund selection.”

Rick attended the Hulme Grammar School in Oldham before reading English Literature at the University of Liverpool. On graduation he joined the Royal Navy as an officer and served for six years on a variety ofsurface warships and shore bases, including six months in the Falkland Islands where he hosted live radio shows on the forces radio station, BFBS Radio.
